The first Russian prosthetic mitral valve installed through a catheter, has been created in Siberia

The valve’s frame is made of nickel and titanium alloy, the flaps — out of the pericardium of a heart of a calf. The valve is to be inserted through the apex of the heart or the left atrium, without the need to stop the heart, after which it opens inside the heart.
